John Halder is a Frankfurt literary professor and an example of the good man: he is apparently devoted to his wife and children and he does his best to look after his aged mother. Cecil P. Taylor, in tracing his hero's progress over eight years plausibly explains the private flaws that lead to endorsement of public monstrosity.
Good invites us to question just what a "good" man is and does and where the bounds of responsibility lie.

Notes from the director, Michelle Peterson

I saw a production of “Good” in 2023. I knew nothing of the play, I just went to see the star, David Tennent.  I was so taken with the writing; I bought the script in the lobby during intermission.  I thought it would be a great show for the intimate JBT stage. It tells the tale of one good man, making decisions that lead to more choices and eventually to a conclusion no one could have foreseen.  It is a very timely story, well written with meaty acting roles. I am honored to help bring “Good” to the JBT.
