Newly revised! A troubled young parolee yearning for a fresh start follows her dreams to Wisconsin, based on a page from an old travel book, only to find a small town with a gritty heart aching with longing and regret. Unexpectedly discovering the healing power of community while working at the Spitfire Grill, Percy reawakens the entire town’s capacity for rebirth, forgiveness and hope. Set to a melodic folk-inspired score, The Spitfire Grill is a joyous celebration of human kindness.
“The Spitfire Grill, An American Musical” was first produced at the JBT in 2010. This musical is what the JBT does best. It’s an intimate story about small towns, coming home, friendship and second chances. It is an inspiring celebration of fresh starts and the power of what one person can do. Songs include “When Hope Goes”, “Come Alive Again”, and “Way Back Home”. Our 2010 audiences loved the heart-warming tale. This season, Gwen Adams returns to direct the newly revised script. Most of the original cast members will return to reprise their roles.
Original JBT cast: Nicole Bird, Christine Usher, Ann Sveen, Daniel Kluth, Scott Usher, Katy Olson & Jerry Vogt. Band members: Rupert Kettle and Gwen Adams
